ALICE WHEELER AT THE GREG KUCERA GALLERY.

Tonight is the opening of Alice Wheeler's new show at the Greg Kucera Gallery if your in Pioneer Square and like great photos of women drop by around 7 or 7:30.

"My generation was taught about the male gaze, how images of women were created for the enjoyment of men. Garry Winogrand's images of women from the 1960s and 70s present them enjoying the freedom of their newfound public sexuality. Some of the women he photographed seemed unaware of his presence, or appear to be hostile to him. He seems like he's playing the role of a predator, one who is aware of the concept of the male gaze and is exploring it in his own way."

Granted these were all thoughts that I had back in 96 when I was reading "Behold A Pale White Horse" by William Cooper and shit by David Icke which had me thinking everyone was a lizard king harvesting minerals for the Illuminati gods.But I really got a kick out of reading this post by Joe Rogan you know the ex Fear Factor host,stand up comedian,ultimate fighter and super stoner,pretty much what you would want in a best friend yeah that guy.Anyways he got me to thinking about size and history and my place on this huge rock flying through an even bigger solar system lost in an even bigger galaxy,housed by this whole universe thing and that I also need to get hooked up with Joe's fucking weed dealer cause dude must have the cron.

When I was a kid the only thing I would ever buy at my school book fairs were Garfield comic books I really loved the guys whole attitude towards things and life in general,he was a major influence.Now I don't really have an opinion about him one way or another these days it's kind of sad now that I think about it.

A friend of mine spotted this on 2nd and Blanchard and E-mailed it to me this morning.WTF is up with the Pubs Be Rippin' bite of the PBR logo?Could there be anything worse than to rip off the Pabst logo,I mean come on people let's try a little bit here. THE ART OF ROSEMARIE FIORE.

Rosemarie Fiore is an artist who works in many mediums including painting,sculpture and video.Things like her waffle iron paintings,her scrambler paintings in which she attached buckets of paint to an amusement park "scrambler" ride which spin paint in geometric patterns a video in which she ran over 50 self help books,whoopie cushions filled with house paint and even covering pin balls with different colors of oil paint and then playing an entire game turning the game itself into a work of art.But it might be her use of controlling fireworks to make amazing colorful layered abstract paintings on pieces of paper that really first got my interest.Be sure to check out her website here to get more information and see more of her art and projects.
